I have always been fascinated by technology and science, and at the same time intimidated by their language, maths. As long as I could see a real life application, however, things became much more manageable. Hence, I opted for a first degree in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (University of Thessaly, Greece, link). It was through these post-adolescence years that I also started developing a political mind with social conscience.

Energy & Environment have been the focus of my professional activities since. I moved to London in 2003 and pursued PhD studies on energy conversion technologies (fuel cells) at the Department of Materials, Imperial College London (link). This was followed by 3 years of post-doc experience, working on sensors for the detection of bioaerosols (Department of Chemistry, University College London, link).

Since March 2011, I have joined the Environmental Measurements Group at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), working on air quality research and services. The research focus there is on the advancement of methodologies for monitoring airborne nanoparticles.

In parallel with the above, I try not to forget to support Scientists for Global Responsibility (link), as well as not to neglect my drums practicing too much.
